Damage to state parks and recreation areas

In late April, the 2011 flood caused significant damage to local and state parks and other recreation areas across the Delta. Big Oak Tree State Park in Missouri has been closed to visitors since April 26, 2011. Sand was deposited on the south side and the visitor center and board walk were badly damaged. Around the same time, significant flooding at Devil’s Den State Park in Washington County, Arkansas caused substantial damage at Campground A, the picnic area and to the recently rebuilt suspension bridge.
