The Human Element

As a result of the 2011 historic floods, thousands of people and their communities throughout the lower Mississippi River Valley have been devastated. Homes have been lost, farms have been washed away, people have lost their ability to earn a living, property has been damaged – much of it beyond repair – and lives have been turned upside down.

In short, hard-working people in this region of the country must rebuild and start over from scratch. These citizens do not want a handout, but the federal government has a responsibility to restore the levees and infrastructure so that productivity can return.
